Fuel Economy Tip - Park in the Shade
Today's tip will hopefully help you save some gas as well as make getting in to your car a little more comfortable.
I would also recommend that you keep the windows of your car rolled down as well. This will allow a good cross breeze and will help prevent heat from building up inside your car. Even if you can't park in the shade, I would recommend keeping your windows down.
While this tip certainly isn't going to help you save a noticeable amount on your car's fuel bill, it will help make for a more comfortable experience when you get into your car.
Park in the shade whenever possible.
The reasoning behind this tip is simple: if you park in the shade your car will be cooler and you won't have to use your air conditioning as quickly.I would also recommend that you keep the windows of your car rolled down as well. I don't know about all the way down, with bird crap and people stealing stuff. However, growing up in Phoenix I learned you absolutely have to keep your windows 'cracked' in the summer.
That means roll them down about an inch so that hot air can escape. Also, that little means rain or bad guys hands can't much get in. I still do that in Denver in the summers.
Speaking of heat reduction, I have found that tinting has a HUGE impact on keeping a car cooler. Tinting all the windows is now the very first thing I do with every truck I get.
True, I may have gone a bit overboard with the idea of rolling down the window ALL the way. I was just trying to illustrate the importance of trying to keep your car cool BEFORE you get in it. Plus, I think for the most part people won't steal your stuff, but it's been known to happen.
